Aetiology
- Influenza A and influenza B - pandemics are influenza A
Pathophysiology
- Transmitted through droplets or direct contact with infected respiratory secretions
Clinical presentation
- High fever
- Chills
- Headache
- Malaise
- Myalgia
- Cough - initially dry and painful, becomes productive but painless
- Nasal congestion
- Fatigue

- Antivirals - prophylaxis and treatment
