Infection of the bronchi
Aetiology
- Majority of cases (90%) are viral
Pathophysiology
- Infection irritates and inflames the bronchi → increased mucus production → productive cough
Clinical presentation
- Productive cough
- Fever in minority of cases
- Normal chest exam, may have transient wheeze

- Supportive
