Intrument types

• There are two main instruments used in operative deliveries - the ventouse and the forceps

Indications

• Delay (failure to progress stage 2)

• Fetal monitoring concern

• Maternal cardiac disease

• Severe PET/eclampsia

• Intra-partum haemorrhage

• Umbilical cord prolapse stage 2
