Fungal mouth infection that causes white spots or patches in the mouth
Aetiology
- Caused by Candida albicans
- Risk factors - post antibiotics, immunosuppressed, smokers, inhaled steroids
Clinical presentation
- White patches on red, raw mucous membranes in the throat/mouth
Investigations
- Investigate for an underlying cause if recurrent
Management
- Nystatin or fluconazole
